Flash intros used to be very popular during the first decade of the century but its use has been discarded in the last couple of years. The reason relies not only on SEO purposes but the fact that internet surfers want to get a website's information as fast as possible. Anyway Flash intros are still popular in the production of Interactive CDs and other multimedia platforms or targeted web site designs, and have evovled into what now is called "Motion Graphics" (which are pretty much used in every Multimedia Platform).
